“If I could say it in words there would be no reason to paint” - Edward Hopper
As much as I would like to be, I’m not a very artistic person. I can draw stick figures and do a fairly good job of tracing, but creating art isn’t in my repertoire of talents. That doesn’t mean I don’t appreciate art, in fact, I think that makes me appreciate it even more.
When I received the Bipolarity piece from Marmont Hill (sent for review purposes) I was in awe. I loved it on the Marmont Hill website, but in person, it is just breathtaking. It fits my personality to a tee and I can relate to it in a way I can’t relate to many things.
The strokes are clean and the colors are vibrant. The wood is a great quality and I expect it to last for a very, very long time! It arrived wrapped in bubble wrap to preserve the quality and ensure safe transport.
It’s the perfect addition to my bedroom and has already been the center point for many conversations. Being bipolar myself I find the contrast in the art to be spot-on with what it’s like to be bipolar. Being the same, but different, and sometimes not recognizing yourself.
The original artist, Jonas Jödicke, is not only skilled in watercolor paintings, but also digital art and creates digital characters, fantasy art, game art. He has a large collection on the Marmont Hill website that you must check out.
The Bipolarity piece is a UV ink print on white wood slats. The wood is hand-selected by fine craftsmen for printing. That’s one of the other things I loved about this piece, it arrived ready to hang. It even comes with extra hardware so you can hang it just how you want it. Unlike some other places where you have to provide your own frame. Bipolarity and other pieces from Marmont Hill come with a certificate of authenticity.
Marmont Hill is a Collective of artists - spearheaded by Parvez Taj who acts as the creative director. Together they create original works of art which are printed on a variety of materials such as aluminum, canvas, mirrors, and reclaimed wood. The Collective is inspired by people, places, and things. Each limited edition piece is handcrafted with love and care.
