I’m pretty vocal about my dislike for winter and I’m always looking for a way around the things I really don’t like. Things like driving in a blizzard and going out in public where anyone could be a germ-spreading flu host. The last thing I want is to get sick and have to go to a doctor’s office. And then that sage bit of wisdom imparted to us by Mick Jagger and every parent in the world: you can’t always get what you want. It’s routine for me; as soon as I think I’ve lucked out I get smacked with a heaping dose of comeuppance, or in this case, a killer sinus infection. Not only did I not want to walk into the doctor’s office, I wasn’t sure I could safely get there. My head felt like a balloon floating away from my body, my vision was blurry, and I just wanted it to stop.
I’m prone to sinus infections so I was able to easily describe what was going on during a video chat with Dr. Horner. She was extremely thorough and sympathetic to my discomfort which was quite refreshing compared to my family doctor. Using Amwell for Urgent Care
You’d think that with a service as amazing as Amwell there would have to be a but. Because we’ve always heard “if something sounds too good to be true then it probably is” we assume there’s always a but following the it’s so great. That’s simply not the case with Amwell. All I had to do was sign up and answer a few questions then I was on my way to online medical help. I got extra excited when, after I had been waiting to see my doctor for a bit, I was given the option to transfer to a more available doctor. I thought back to the countless hours I’ve spent waiting in a doctor’s office and couldn’t help but smile. That alone was enough for me to become a fan.
It’s also nice to have the option of speaking with a medical professional should something happen with my grandmother outside of her regular doctor’s hours. She’s kind of like me, not wanting to be around a bunch of sick people or wait for hours in the waiting room.
